Work-life Balance Guide For Women

Work-life Balance Guide For Women

Holding up to all the different identities - wife, daughter, mom, an employee, at times gets emotionally as well as physically distressing.

But at the same time, with the changing ethos parallel to a growth mindset, women are encouraged to have a magnificent career alongside a blissful family.

Maintaining the right balance between work and life is very important in leading a harmonious life, but the struggles are endless. And if you are someone facing a rough patch in either of your realms, take out some time to go through these basic requirements to get through it.

PRIORITIZING IS THE KEY

Do not clutter all your work in your head without any tabulation. Just as much as a messy table makes work inefficient, an unorganized set of thoughts makes you ineffectual.

Make a list of all the tasks to do at home and at work in a prioritized manner. Tabulate what can be negotiated and what requires your urgent attention.

Develop a habit of keeping regular records and checks of your tasks to avoid any last-minute hassle.

LEARN THE ART OF DELEGATION

You don't have to do all the work by yourself. Delegate the task at home between the family members. Like you and your partner can take alternate days to drop your child at school or cook dinner. Inculcate the habit of cleaning after themselves in your children.

The same goes for your workplace. Do not stress over all the things on your plate. Master your delegation skills and know when to pass on the tasks and to whom.

INVEST IN YOUR PERSONAL TIME

Work is not your life but just a part of it. Do not overburden yourself so much that you forget to give a treat to yourself from time to time. All that hard work means nothing if you don't get to be happy.

Go out with family, friends. Go bowling, thrown parties. Listen to that music and dance to your favourite song. Make time to do what you love. It shouldn't be compromised.

Only when you take care of yourself, in all respects, you can take care of those around you.

DRAW A LINE BETWEEN PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL

Try not to incline too much towards one side. Leave work behind in your office and enjoy your time at home. It's understandable at times to work at home, but getting so ingrained in it all the time might make your close ones feel neglected.

Sometimes, urgent texts are not urgent but just an act of habit. Try turning off your phone while eating.

STAY HEALTHY

Skipping your breakfast/meals to complete extra tasks is a no-go.

Strictly follow a physical exercise routine, be it yoga, gym, cycling, walking, or a sport, whatever.

It helps flush down all the stress and clear your headspace.

So, do not underestimate the power of a healthy lifestyle as a good influence on your work life.

BE HONEST TO YOUR PEOPLE

Be it at home or office, conveying the truth about how you feel will make you accountable. Be the real you and speak up when you feel burdened or uncomfortable by somebody else's decision or task.

Staying put will always leave you feeling underestimated or taken for granted. Communication is the right way to sort things out.

All these things are on the list, and still, it's essential to know that nobody has a perfectly aligned work-life balance. Everybody is just trying to channelize their time and energy in the way they think is right to maintain that balance. The process involves tons of compromises and adjustments, which still is a beautiful part that makes us realize that we are just humans.
